About Us

Bishop Lavis High School was established 61 years ago when we were in the darkest days of Apartheid. As the Coloured community was destined to be the workers in Cape Towns many factories, the structure of the school up till today resembles a factory, with basic facilities. To this day our school consists mostly of prefabricated buildings whose lifespan has been exceeded by decades. Though this is the situation of the building structure, its people and the community it serves has attained great heights and will continue the dream of giving our children the knowledge and lifeskills to face the challenging world of the 21st century. We have great teachers who accomplishes so much facing immense structural, emotional, psychological issues.
